The purpose of the foundation is to raise money, plan, build, run and manage Stenens Hus on Udden in Hunnebostrand based on the following three purposes:
- To spread knowledge and experiences about the entire Bohuslän stone landscape from prehistory to the present with the stonemasonry era as a local connection.
- To be a creative meeting place for research, development and knowledge transfer regarding the stone landscape as a potential resource in the present, in interaction between academia, industry, associations and local actors.
- To be an attractive visitor facility that highlights the Bohuslän stone landscape as an international tourist destination, an experience centre for stone, a guide to the stone landscape and an institution with an international outlook.
Stenens hus’ activities are based on four main areas:

- Art and culture
- Cultural heritage
- Current and future stone industry

In collaboration between the industry, the population and culture, we want to create interest in and insight into the importance of granite for the stone industry, for art and architecture, with characteristics such as pride, knowledge and creativity. Then as now and towards a sustainable future.
