After almost three decades of ideas and plans, a new, locally based vision for Stenens Hus in Hunnebostrand is now being presented.
The Stenens Hus fundraising foundation invites you to an open lecture with pictures, where the history, plans and future ideas for the site will be presented.
Since 1996, the headland in Hunnebostrand has been the subject of several initiatives. Now, a long-term and sustainable centre for the cultural heritage, industry and art of natural stone is being proposed.
‘We want Stenens Hus to be a living place where the history of stone meets the future – a centre for knowledge, craftsmanship and conversation in the middle of Bohuslän’s granite landscape.’ say representatives of the Stenens Hus fundraising foundation.
Stenens Hus will:
Be a hub for everything related to Bohuslän’s natural stone, a gathering place and a gateway to the landscape and all activities related to stone.
Collect and preserve documentation on natural stone, art, architecture and local history.
Be a meeting place for researchers, artists, schools and visitors.
Create collaborations with local museums and stonemasonry traditions.
The building is planned to contain archives, an exhibition and film hall, children’s and school rooms, spaces for art and industry, and a café with a view of the sea. Inspiration is drawn from the Watercolour Museum, the House of the Sea, the House of Glass and the Bergslagen Ecomuseum.
The lecture will be held:
Friday, 5 December, 2:00–3:00 p.m.
